LUNATAFELT FIBER ART GALLERY

Fiber art isn’t just creative expression for me - it’s the air I breathe. It holds my family’s legacy;

my grandmother and mother were artisans whose hands never rested. Their passion for textiles lives on in me, connecting me to generations before.

It’s about honoring the past. I cherish embroidered linens, knitted pieces - artifacts passed down, carrying fragments of thought, imagination, and beauty crafted by ordinary hands.

Through my work, I add my own stitches to that ongoing story, creating something lasting for future generations. It’s a living thread I hope my grandchildren will hold - not just as heirlooms, but as symbols of creativity, resilience, and warmth.

Handmade art crosses boundaries and speaks to something universal. It’s about capturing what it means to be human - to create, to cherish, and to leave something meaningful behind.

Wet Felting:
Unique Felted Pieces and Techniques
Felting burst into my life twenty years ago. Back then, resources were scarce - hardly any books or workshops existed to guide me. I had to figure everything out on my own, through a challenging process of trial and error. But that journey, however difficult, led me to some of the most fascinating discoveries.

Every felted piece I create is an original design, refined through countless hours of practice and experimentation. It’s a blend of unlikely materials and stylistic choices, brought together to form something entirely new. Each piece is one-of-a-kind, existing as a singular expression of creativity and craftsmanship.
Over the years, dozens of my students have grown into independent artists and skilled makers. Watching them develop their own styles has been one of the most rewarding parts of my journey. Their successes bring me pride and joy, knowing something I shared inspired them.
Yet, my journey continues - I keep experimenting, refining techniques, and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with felt. Creativity is an endless evolution, where each discovery leads to new possibilities. I thrive on exploring fresh ideas, textures, and methods. It’s a cycle of growth that never truly ends, keeping the process exciting.
Felted Eco-Fur:
Sustainable Wool Rugs and Decor
Felted eco-fur is a unique technique I use to create rugs and home accessories from raw, unprocessed sheep wool. It’s a completely natural and cruelty-free process - only carefully sheared, high-quality fleece is used, and the well-cared-for sheep continue to graze happily in open pastures. No chemical treatments, synthetic fibers, or harsh processes are involved.

Everything is done by hand, with respect for the animals and the environment. This method leaves a gentle footprint, both environmentally and ethically, while allowing the wool to shine in its most natural form. Working with raw fleece in this way connects me directly to the origins of the material, to the landscape it comes from, and to centuries-old traditions of handcraft.
The rugs I make are crafted using my own original felting technique. They’re not just decorative pieces - they’re built to last. One of their key features is practicality: they can be gently washed in a machine without losing their shape or look, making them a perfect fit for modern living. These rugs aren’t delicate art objects hidden away - they’re made to be lived with, walked on, enjoyed every day, and passed down over time.

I work only with undyed wool in its natural shades - creamy whites, greys, browns, and blacks. This gives the pieces an earthy, grounded presence and allows them to blend beautifully into eco-friendly, rustic, or boho-inspired interiors. They also suit folk or medieval-style spaces, where natural materials and textures take center stage. Each rug carries with it the warmth of the sheep, the quiet rhythm of handmade craft, and a deep respect for the land it comes from.
Knitting:
Handmade Garments from Natural Fibers
I’ve been knitting and crocheting for nearly 50 years - since early childhood. From the very beginning, I knew I didn’t want to simply follow patterns or copy existing designs. I was drawn to creating my own shapes, textures, and styles. At the same time, studying the work of renowned designers and exploring traditional folk motifs from around the world gave me a strong foundation and helped sharpen my eye for detail and proportion.

One of the most inspiring aspects of my creative process is working with yarn I’ve spun myself. There’s something deeply satisfying about building a piece from the ground up - starting with raw fiber and watching it evolve into a finished garment or accessory. Each item becomes one of a kind, shaped by the qualities of the yarn and the idea behind it.
I work exclusively with premium-quality yarns made from natural fibers - wool, alpaca, cashmere, kid mohair, silk, linen, and pima cotton. The way these materials behave in the hands, the texture they create, and the way they interact with light and movement - this is where true magic happens.

Every piece I make carries a little of my history, a bit of experimentation, and a lot of love for the craft. It’s slow work, thoughtful and tactile, but that’s exactly what makes each creation special - it's not just clothing, it’s a story told in stitches.
Art Yarn:
Handspun Textured Yarn and Fiber Batts
Creating art yarn through hand spinning - whether with a spindle or a spinning wheel - feels like pure meditation. But the process starts long before the yarn is spun. Inspiration comes from nature’s shifting colors, journeys to historical sites, books that open doors to other worlds, and visits to museums and art galleries.

Color, for me, conveys more than mood; it channels the energy of different eras. Textures speak of various styles, though I’m most drawn to the natural, eco-friendly, and boho aesthetics.
Spinning is a layered, deliberate process. I begin by sorting and washing raw wool by hand, ensuring it’s clean and ready for the next stage. Then, I comb the fibers, separating and aligning them with care. Decorative fibers and textures come into play as I blend them into art batts on a drum carder, experimenting until the balance feels just right.

Only then does the spinning wheel take over, bringing the yarn to life. Each thread emerges with its own character - color, texture, and personality - crafted through patience and intention. Every skein is unique, carrying the echoes of the journey from raw material to artful creation.
Weaving:
Handwoven Shawls and Scarves
The rigid heddle loom I use for weaving scarves, shawls, and fabric may be simple in construction, but it holds centuries of tradition in its frame. It doesn’t rely on electricity or complex mechanisms - just wood, yarn, and the weaver’s hands. That’s exactly what I love about it.

The process is quiet, focused, and fully manual, connecting me to generations of artisans who wove their cloth in the same way. It's also the most sustainable way to create fabric from yarn, especially when the yarn is handspun. Working without machines, using natural fibers, and shaping each piece thread by thread feels both grounding and intentional - every motion has meaning.
Each piece begins with a slow and thoughtful approach. I choose yarns based on their fiber, color, and feel. Then I sketch out how colors and patterns might flow together.
Even when I have yarn left to make more of the same, I never repeat a piece. I don’t save calculations or drafts - each scarf or shawl exists as a one-off, a true original.

What excites me most is finding the right fit between the finished piece and the person who will wear it. It's not just about color or texture, but the mood and energy it carries. I love that quiet challenge - creating something that feels like it already belongs to someone, even before we've met.
